Privacy policy
This policy explains what britanniaauctions.co.uk collects when you use the site, what it is used for and how long it is kept. It is deliberately short. If a question is not answered here, ask it through the contact form.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry we receive what you type into the form: a description of the assets, where they are, your timescale, your name, your business name if you give one, your email address and your phone number if you give one. We use this to reply to you about the sale and, if you instruct us, to carry it out.
Our hosting and security services process your connection address and the pages you request to deliver the site and prevent abuse. Your connection address is also included with an enquiry sent to our sales team to help us investigate spam.
Website analytics
We collect limited usage data about pages, traffic sources and campaigns, site performance and enquiry activity. This helps us understand how the site is used. Enquiry contents and contact details are kept separate and are not sent to analytics. We do not replay visits or create named visitor profiles.
Connection addresses and browser information help estimate daily visits. The identifier changes each day, so these estimates cannot reliably recognise people across days or devices. We do not keep analytics identifiers in cookies or browser storage. The analytics library briefly writes and immediately removes two fixed browser-support test values; these contain no visitor, analytics or enquiry data.
Usage data is stored in our PostHog EU project, with browser requests passing through Cloudflare. Processing can use global infrastructure, so EU storage does not mean all transit occurs within the EU. These services process personal data, including connection addresses, on our behalf.
What we do not do
We do not sell or rent your details. We do not add you to a marketing list because you sent an enquiry. We do not set advertising cookies or share your visit with advertising networks.
Who sees your enquiry
Your enquiry is sent through a transactional email provider to the team that handles sales for this site. The site itself is hosted by a UK based provider. These providers process the information needed to deliver the message and run the site on our behalf.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to deal with your sale and any questions that follow it. Enquiries that do not lead to a sale are deleted once they are no longer relevant. Records of completed sales are kept for as long as the law requires for accounting purposes.
Any PostHog analytics events we collect are retained for up to one year under our current plan. Changing the visitor identifier each day or switching off new measurement does not delete previously collected events.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we have no continuing need for it. Use the contact form and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
